Long time IWCA member, Ralph R. Chapin, III, of Birdsboro, passed away September 14, 2014 in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Virginia (Ziegler) Chapin, whom he married August 5, 1978. Born July 7, 1953 in New London, CT, he was the son of the late R. Ross, Jr. and Phyllis (Spooner) Chapin. Ralph was a 1972 graduate of Hunterdon Central High School and a 1976 graduate of Bucknell University, where he received a B.A. in Mathematics. He was employed by Tek Systems as Software Engineer.
Ralph enjoyed computer programming and war gaming. He was also a military history enthusiast. Ralph was a member of the Reading Area Wargamers, Irish Wolfhound Association of the Delaware Valley and The Naval Institute.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his siblings, Carol Chapin Antedomenico, Danbury, CT ; William S. Chapin, Somerset, NJ. He is also survived by his two nieces: Grace Antedomenico and Elizabeth Antedomenico; and two nephews: Justin Chapin and Kevin Chapin.
Services will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 1 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to1 p.m. in the funeral home.
